The Tailor Toyo TT15892 Vietnam Jacket recreates a classic mid-1960s Vietnam War souvenir jacket, often referred to as a “Vietnam Jacket” or “Viet-Jacket.”

This model is based on an original jacket brought back to the United States by a soldier stationed at the U.S. Army base in Pleiku, Vietnam during the mid-1960s.

The embroidery features the iconic designs commonly seen on vintage Vietnam jackets:

• Tiger embroidery on the right chest
• The kanji character “福” (Good Fortune) on the left chest
• Dragons embroidered along both sleeves
• A detailed map of Vietnam on the back

While many vintage Vietnam jackets feature rough or loosely stitched embroidery, this reproduction carefully recreates dense, high-quality embroidery similar to the finest vintage examples.

Another distinctive detail is the coin-style buttons on the cuffs, faithfully reproducing the antique coin buttons used on original jackets.

In addition to the classic black version, this model is also available in rare off-white fabric, inspired by scarce surviving vintage pieces.

Vietnam Jacket (Viet-Jacket)

Similar to the Sukajan souvenir jackets created in post-war Japan, Vietnam jackets emerged during the Vietnam War era (1960s–1970s) as souvenirs made for American servicemen.

These jackets were typically made from cotton twill or camouflage poncho liner fabric and embroidered with bold designs using thick matte embroidery thread.
